Religious & Spiritual Leaders

To you, the Religious and Spiritual Leaders,

Thank you for the care and consistency that you provide to families along their cancer journey. As a religious or spiritual leader, we want to give you this site as a resource for guiding families and the very special children who have a brother or sister with cancer. One thing that’s often the most difficult for anyone going through this is meeting the differing needs of each of the other children in the family – the brothers and sisters of the child with cancer. SuperSibs! recognizes this need and has filled this section of our website with resources for you – religious and spiritual leaders of SuperSibs! young children and teens.

SuperSibs! serves families of all faiths and backgrounds, and we respect whatever choice each family and sibling makes for their own lives. While we do not promote any specific religious or faith-based practices or preferences, we know this is an important element in the lives of the families we serve. Many siblings have expressed to SuperSibs! how important their faith has been in their cancer journey. Other siblings have expressed frustration and confusion about their faith at this time. Our goal is to provide you with a starting point of ideas, tips, conversation starters, and support methods for these “super siblings” as they manage through their own unique cancer journey with your community’s support. Cancer is frightening and unpredictable… yet you can play a key role in helping siblings “redefine” this experience – helping them find stability and strength to face each day, now and in the future.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, everyone in the family needs healing. At SuperSibs!, our goal is to do all we can to support the often forgotten siblings – so they can heal, emotionally, as well. We hope that the information on this website will aid in your understanding of what these children and teens are facing — and in turn, that this information is of support to you to help them heal.

With hugs and hope,
Your friends at SuperSibs!
